In Western Australia's rocky deserts, previously overlooked mining companies such as Albemarle have become pivotal due to the soaring demand for lithium, essential for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This surge has thrust these miners into the spotlight as the EV industry seeks reliable lithium sources...

Taylor Swift Listed As The 8th Best Guitarist Of The Last 20 Years

She definitely earned it. You know, with all those 4/4 songs at 120bpm where she strums her way through G, D, Em, and C. Such talent. Many kudos. Wow.

Putin just called Trump’s bluff on Ukraine, with the Russian art of the ‘no’ deal

A “no” is not a “yes” when it is a “maybe,” a “probably not,” or an “only if.”

This is the painfully predictable lesson the Trump administration’s first real foray into wartime diplomacy with the Kremlin has dealt. They’ve been hopelessly bluffed.

Now that Trump has been on the right track to surrendering a century's worth of US global power in a matter of weeks, there are other sharks that are sure to step in.

Case in point...

In 2023, Meta released its AI code as open source. For those not familiar with it, "open source" means that the code is publicly available. DeepSeek has also released its code as open source.

Another factor is that the US bans exports of certain high-powered and AI-specific chips. This forced DeepSeek's developers to optimize the code to run on slower / standard hardware.

Meta sees this as a win. Why? Because releasing their code as open source allowed an innovator to optimize it in ways that they didn't. Meta's chief AI scientist (Yann LeCun), also says that thinking about this as "China beating the US" are looking at it the wrong way. It's about open source working better than closed source.

Now. Here's a question..

You'd wonder what facilitated this sudden turn of events in Syria. In case you haven't heard, the Islamist rebels overtook the country within less than a week and overthrew the Assad regime which had held its grip on the country for half a century. Assad has now fled to Moscow, to live his days under the protection of his buddy Putin. Russia's military bases are under threat, Iran has lost its most powerful proxy, Turkey is about to get rid of the millions of Syrian refugees, and the whole region is now wondering if there'll finally be peace in Syria or the whole thing will be plunged into unimaginable chaos...

The election of Donald Trump is much scarier than many may imagine. It's not just that an orange pro-fascist pseudo-Mussolini is poised to get back to the helm of the greatest power in the world. No. It's scarier than that. Because all this carries dire consequences for the future.

The scary thing is that Trump has started a trend and now the entire Republican party is radicalized. First internally, meaning its politicians... that is, I meant to call them "politicians" (the quotation marks here are deliberate - apparently there are no politicians left in that party, only sectarians), but it is also being radicalized externally - in the party followers.

It is not about liberals vs conservatives at all any more...

How Donald Trump Pulled Off the Greatest Comeback in Political History

What moment will be remembered as the one that ensured victory? The fist pump after being shot? Serving fries at McDonald's? Or was it the orange vest show while driving the garbage truck?

Your thoughts?..

You must have heard of AIBA/ IBA (International Boxing Association), the scandals and why they are banned from the Olympics. Here's the chronology.

So it all begun when it became apparent they had fixed matches in both the 2016 Rio games, and the 2012 games in London.

Biden firmly denounces calls to step aside from fellow Democrats: 'The voters have spoken'
The president said the voters have chosen him and dared Democratic “elites” who want him out to challenge him at the party’s convention next month.

Sometimes there comes a painful day when you have to take the car keys away from grandpa even though he doesn't want to give them up. But how do you take away the keys to the country away in this situation?...

France's move on UkraineFrance is sending troops to Ukraine, making it the first NATO country to do so. Granted, they are only there to train Ukrainian soldiers and not for combat missions... at least for now. In a separate move, France also approved Ukraine using French weapons to strike inside Russian territory.
